**** Power of Words ********

Dear All

I vaguely recall that I had written on this subject some time back but then THIS post will be different as the ME writing this one NOW is definitely a different one than the other me that wrote some time back.....

Well, Language is a vehicle of communication. Words are akin to the wheels of this wonderful vehicle. I have always seen that people who are good in mother tongue can quite easily switch over to any other language because they have some thing to rely upon when they bump upon a new word in the foreign language that they are learning !

Now, I come to a figurative dimension of the title above. Can you imagine three concentric circles - I mean, circles of different radius placed one inside the other. So you do have three layers of circle, right ?
Can you visualize this.....? Don't move on further, unless you see them clearly......
The innermost circle consists of those words on which we have complete empowerment. We use them effortlessly when we write and speak these words.
Lets move on to the upper circle (rather the middle circle) which consists of words that we recognize, admire and relish them ("catch my point" ? Michael Madana Kaaama Raasan - Kamal's film) but never can internalize them. I mean these are the cases where though we WANT to use few of the words, invariably we forget them when it matters most - like how it happened to Karnan in Mahabaaratham !!
There is a third set of words which when we read, we do not understand OR understand quite vaguely. Due to lack of interest or other external factors, we may never understand these words but we definitely know that such a word EXIST and we know the spelling of those words -  even (some times) how to pronounce it......!!
These concentric circles can be made slightly more complex by  infusing Reading / Writing skills and Hearing  / Speaking skills - but this is enough for AGANDAM today.

Suchoo in full flow with a Family Friend @ his home - recently

Now, Why do I brag about this subject ?

Yes, every one does have words aplenty in the outermost circle at every point of time of his life - it never ceases to exist. The technique of attaining Word Power is to ensure that the middle circle merges with the innermost one. In other words, the "words" that we admire should become part of us as quick as possible ! Makes sense ...?
("சென்றுடுவீர் எட்டு திக்கும் ...கலைச்செல்வம் யாவும் கொணர்ந்திங்கு சேர்த்திடுவீர்")

To me, a good communicator is not some one who is knowledgeable and having a huge vocabulary....he is some one who knows to make best use of what he has with him.....and ensures that he does not allow what he knows gets to a point of stagnation at any stage of his life.

Not long ago, one of my acquaintance - with lot of conviction - commented to my craving for writing / sharing / blogging that these are outdated things & to make me understand he gave an example too - "what" being uttered as "wat"  is perfectly ok for him if it is understood by others.
I do not want to give a prolonged explanation on the power of words....like basic difference between accepting to agree against agreeing to accept; the big difference between "responding" against "replying" and the subtle difference between "truth" and "fact".....
Yeah,...the list is endless.....but this post has to come to end.

Wish you all great week end  !!

Love // Suren
