*****Dhrishyam (2014)********

Dear All

There are going to be many FIRST that I am going to list now. Can't help putting them down before starting the message of this post.

First thing first, this was the first movie about which I am writing exactly a second after seeing it. There was one such circumstance in the past (2009) when I vehemently wrote my Film Review on "unnai pol oruvan" soon after seeing the film. But you see, since I was at Coimbatore those days, I had to reach an Internet Cafe before spilling my rage - which took few minutes extra.

Again, this is the first Non Tamil Movie I am seeing without Sub Titles for the first time. YES, this had been a huge karma for me - not able to venture new landscapes considering the Language as a barrier. However, I realize now that for a certain category of films, we need to feel it before we understand it.

There is one more funny element about this musing.  I am not going to make it a film review today. Yeah....I intend to just write down my feelings now with my limited "understanding" warning me not to come to any hasty conclusions about the film. In particular, without understanding the exact words of Mohan Lal in the last scene to the Boy's parents, I can't boast that I have "seen" the film. I will follow this up with another one before the end of the week after seeing it WITH sub titles. (Perhaps, I  may want to write it in TAMIL).

I have the habit of crying during intense moments of the film and here I am - for the first time - sitting at my home all alone - sobbing profusely (believe me, I have a running nose now :-) !!)

Also, since I had a ripple of thought to see this film during last week end, there had been enough distractions for me - as the CD that I got did not work properly & had to be returned back at the shop only to get a replacement CD of another film, getting the film downloaded from my cousin and even after I got it in my hard disc, the sub titles still don't work.....How much struggles....?? To handle a genuine simple wish, how much of obstacles I had to.....!! (I am reminded of all the initiatives of Mohan Lal to keep up his family's peace above any thing else)

Last but not least, just yesterday, I decided upon the title of  my BOOK release for 12th July 2015 (if you are laughing at me, I just don't mind - I normally plan things in advance, you know !!)- its going to be titled as "Kanni MuyarchigaL" covering all of my experiences under the umbrella. This post and the subsequent review - without any saying - gets qualified into that.

Well......

The mere fact that such a movie (or brand of such movies) has been possible is a proof for the super intelligent hero. And I am aghast at every aspect of the film including the fantastic rendering of Meena (Yes, I have a strong feeling that she is one of the wasted resource at least in Tamil excepting Avvai Shanmugi - where she showed glimpse of her prowess), the two kids and including that constable whose desperation at Mohanlal had been crafted nicely.

I really don't know why the so called "entertainer movie" makers try to make at least one such film - which is a classic possibility for any one who can think a simple, straight and nice story line.
Yaar, please get this straight - unless Kalaanithi Maaran bleeds thru' his nose, you guys can't take a film like ENTHIRAN. (Is it really required to take more Enthiran like movies - is altogether different question)
I recently read that a Hot Director of Tamil in yester-years - known for his films like Sivakasi, Thirupathy.....etc., is going to come back. While I don't even care to remember his name, I crave such "come back" guys can do a bit of their er....er..... PAAPANAASAM.

Well guys......Catch you up before the end of the week once again - of course - on the same film. That could be more of a review.....!!

Krishnaarpanam

Love // Suren
