Dear Mate
Do you live in chennai ? Are you blessed to have a local weekly distributed at your home - free of cost ?? The name is normally local - I get Kodambakkam Times - for instance.
Apart from local news which could be specific to your locality, please watch out for two columns in this weekly - one by a Gentleman called Mr.T.R.Jawahar ("Point Blank") and another by Mr.K.Balakumaran ("Crank's Corner"). These two musings are printed thru' out chennai as a common piece in your locality TALK where ever you live.
I read these two columns with lot of interest AND feel they are quite enriching. In this week's issue, I particularly enjoyed the article called "Tamizhanda !!" in Crank's corner where he mocks at the duplicity of the Tamil Fervour....with qualitative humour spread across the article. "Bungle-O-Pongal" of Jawahar is also good where he touches upon the unique political atmosphere in the state where we have checked with Courts on which exactly should be celebrated as new year at TN !!
Well, leaving out more details of these two articles, I feel Musings is a perfect middle path between fiction and non fiction. It perfectly fits in between the two extremes - viz., stories, novels and other creative pieces where not just the writer, the reader too gets entangled with the story line, the plot and the characters...and quite demanding in terms of time when we read voluminous works; On the other hand, reading any type of non fiction - be it philosophy or even contemporary news, we become bit dry as they cater to the left side of the brain.
Reading random musings helps us to take best out of both world where there is good interesting appeal and also links us to contemporary news and philosophical thoughts.....and most importantly is too good for our time management. In fact writing musings has become bit of amateurish art these days where Tom, Dick and Harry (why ? myself too) attempt it to serve the venting out need. The depth of the articles of course determine the readership AND repeat readership.....and the economic theory of demand meeting up supply takes care of itself....!!
The most interesting thing that attracts me towards reading and writing musings is that it is close to individuals heart. The more it comes out from with genuine feelings, the more it appeals to the reader...!! It is not just for emotional appeal as the range / subject and the depth will provide food for the left side of reader's brain too....!!
Do I make sense ? Does Random musings make sense to you....? Life could be slightly more interesting if you try out "random musings" - either you pick it up from Chennai Times Weekly or from Google - any where from AGANDAM...!! Don't miss it folks....!!
Love // Suren
