Mundane Matters :: 3 - "Rises & Demolitions"

Dear All

I spent few minutes today in a demolished site quite close to my parent's home today.
Its in fact just one house away from where our home is; till recently, it contained a big house which is defnitely not old / ancient house that requires a complete demolition by any logic.....!!

It was not too long that we start living in this locality - I clearly remember the construction of our home 21 years back in the year 1991 during my college days. This demolished site contained a new house those days - with a couple living there with their two kids - their house got constructed just couple of years before our own. In fact the plot in between our home and this site also got constructed just an year before our home - so it was a nice beginning of a new street with three new houses getting built up all within a space of three years - our houses preceed a real big bungalow of the local big man who sold us all - the three plots which was in his possession.

We were neither too close nor remained total strangers to these neighbours; Within 10 years they moved else where and in the next 10 years, there had been at least 2 or three different tenants occupying this home. I moved to live in the city in the meanwhile after my marriage and whenever I reach to parent's place, it is always interesting to see little changes that happen in our locality including the change of residents of this first house of our street. It so happened that they finally sold off the home to some body AND the person who acquired the home decided to demolish the big house (all our plots are 1 1/2 grounds - quite big for middle class 800 - 1000 sq feet houses) AND build up a flat there....!!

Now what makes me write this musings in not about any sentimental value...but a macro thought about how lives of people undergo so much changes within a short span - with few instances like this where a plot of land has seen so much changes within two decades of time !! On the other hand, we also find people living a long life in a same house they are born and seeing all their ups and downs at the same house - either in city or village....!!

Few people's career / life graph changes quite often and are vulnerable to so much of highs and lows...while few others have such a stable (at least seemingly from outside) life and career thru' out their lives....!!

Few people have so much jerks in terms of health and accidents they encounter in lives while many other live without having a single ailment that compels them to visit a physician....!!

It is quite easy to empathize with any body around us with what ever he speaks, feels and thinks....when we appreciate his background AND with a little knowledge about where his roots are.....!! In fact I am beginning to realize that one becomes spiritually enlightened or - barest minimum - emotionally balanced more out of destiny than by his own free well...!!

I hope by now, you are convinced that it was not about the demolished house that referred in the subject line - its virtually about every damn thing that exist at AGANDAM - whether it is demolished or newly risen.....Its all the same at the bottom line.....!!
