*******Awareness********

Dear All

Some petty incident today at home has triggered this post. Will tell it beforehand without much of build ups. A (Gauthama Buddha) statue made of porcelain fell down in our hall today evening and broke into pieces.

It was a nice little piece (only up to neck) kept in our hall just under the Television. With the Black screen atop the Buddha's statue  and the Cable TV's Black color set op box in the background, the small white face of Buddha with his eyes closed catches every body's attention. It is one of the rarest thing I grabbed at Lifestyle Shop - believe me,  I hate buying spree.
This little statue is some thing I stare at - with an empty mind when I have nothing to do (which is the case during most part of the day)

I am reminded of Sadhguru from whom I have heard volumes of lectures on Buddha's way of "awareness" and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's way of "love" - how they are two entwined ways to attain liberty. It appears - he told - that Buddha had more than ten thousands of realized monks as his disciples during his life time which cannot be claimed by no other spiritual Guru.

Well, why this bragging ? Today I distinctly remember the chronology of events and my feelings as the Buddha statue fell down and shattered into pieces. I saw our daughter going near the TV and with vigorous motions of her hands, she touched the statue which fell down, sprang up again without any breakage, and once more the same thing happened...and the third time, it was shattered beyond any manual repair. For few seconds she stood paralyzed but I watched with wonder three things - First, I was not shocked at all in the first instance, secondly - not angry at all and third and most important thing, just felt the loss of my pet object without too much emotions attached to it.

Do I sound bit too much on a petty incident ?

I may not attain the mental state of Buddha in this life time but then, this incident showed me that I am capable of being aware in the moments that matter most.

So its good to be "ordinary", isn't it ? too much to watch around.....enjoy yourself ...... and brag about at AGANDAM without caring if any one reads it......!!

  1. A simple incident being documented, linked to saints... You have completed glorifying a meaningless incident and I am committing a crime by reading it and commenting on it... Andavaaa... ... Let us take simple things in a simple manner and Move on... So, Im moving on... :) ... Krishnaarpanam

  2. Gowri, Sorry for belated posting of your comment. Well, on your message, he he he.....!! Good that you got the point - there is just a razor thin difference between simplicity and greatness. One can't put it in better words (I meant you).
