Dear All
There is one big difference between our schooling days when we are labelled as "students" and our official life when we happen to bump upon some or other training sessions as "trainees".
With lot of audacity I can tell this, the wonderful moments in my life happened during my Training Hours. (I have also clocked a modest 150 training hours as a Soft Skills Trainer at various points of time - which is not very different from being a trainee !!).
Including the Isha volunteering, I had clocked more than 1500 hours of training as a "trainee" where I learnt quite a lot than what life has taught me during other times.
Come back to the first line......Yes, the big difference when we become trainee is .........US. I mean, our mental age and experience plays a major role for us to enjoy the session much more than our lives as students when we read volumes of information without really understanding the full import of the materials.
Now, why did I title this post as "woes" of a trainee ?
This is bit subtle but you can easily appreciate if you read thru' , think within yourself to agree with me.
YES, I see any training program like a torch light throwing light on various\facets about the topic and making us clearly realize that what we learnt in a session is just not enough and there is lot more on the subject that we need to cover.
Its a fact that we cannot understand and learn every thing in life. We need to restrict ourselves on subjects of our choice - I agree. But even in the specific subject you have chosen for ourselves, we only grow humbler and humbler as we explore.
It is a fact that a Trainer is always a Trainee because he appreciates this fact much more than any body else.
Below is the photo taken during last week when I got a small momento from one of our people manager (not mine) for "active participation and involvement" in one of the training session on an official topic.....
Look carefully, this manager could be some one whom you know if you belong to Haritha Kothram.....!!
These kinds of momentos and recognitions are just a solace for a "trainee" whose craving is genuine and never diminishing...... Any way, Thanks Gowri.......

I am a passionate trainer. I like, no … no, Love training.
ReplyDeleteTraining puts one on the track. Further journey is his/ hers. “what we learnt in a session is just not enough” … True.
Adult learning is different from learning behaviour of children. Apart from choice, the adult learning is largely need based. Ego, contrasting past experience etc are to be tackled. Even a memento for the best participation needs to be planned carefully.
As a faculty, I helped people learn. Put so many on track. Mentored. But, in the process, what I have learnt is much more.
Thank you for the opportunity … I could express myself.
Love,
