Today I went to Natesan Park after more than 10 days. Had a wonderful time walking briskly for a cool one hour.
During my walk, as I turned at one corner of the pavement, I could spot that "guy" at a distance. Quite automatically , I picked up a Rs.10 note from my pocket & kept it ready before we reached each other.
As he met my eyes, I nodded my head and handed him over the currency note which he took meekly and left me without a single word.
That's the tale of a "vridhdhi" dissolved out - for ever - in the chaos of this Universe.

While the word "Yoga" means Union, its objective - in most non technical terms - is to achieve a mind without ripples. TODAY might have become a world overflowing with "images" with cell phones and selphies, the greatest problem of the mind had always been "verbalization". All the memories of our mind may be captured as images for quick recollection but then, our thought process is mostly full of words - with interpretations, arguments reasons, justifications, self regrets, passions...and what not.
When one starts the simplest of breathing techniques of yoga (Pranayam), the impact of quietening of mind happens within few days of practice since Prana + Yamam essentially regulates the pranic force of the body which is the air that we breathe. I heard from Sadhguru that the breath practice is a complete path of yoga by itself.

So this mind chattering is not a problem for a beginner of Yoga but also to an ascetic who sits and goes on with his austerities sitting in a cave of a mountain. Actually it chatters more with most trivial things when the external situation is very calm & serene. (Isn't it a paradox ?)
Well, One root cause for the chattering of the mind is the amount of unfulfilled desires or the impressions that they leave. Taking up few goals consciously and not acting upon them is only a tip in the iceberg. There are plenty of such impressions that we make to our mind - at various levels of our awareness and during various times of the day.
While it is impossible to AVOID the accumulation of such impressions ("vridhdhis") with some discipline in life (like breathing exercises, for example) it is possible to slow down a bit - which is a great self help that we can do to ourselves.
Further, it really helps - mark my words - it really helps us if we do few things that we had wanted to do - big or small , either as a goal or otherwise. The satisfaction that we experience when we "do that we thought about" is beyond words and helps to quieten our minds from a totally different perspective (apart from the regulated life)
One way that I have defined the Goal Setting Process for myself is to integrate life from this angle. Any way mind is chattering !
Let it chatter with "small things" that we would like to do and lets kill them by "achieving" them gleefully at the appropriate moment.
Isn't it a win-win deal ?

Coming back to the Prelude to this post, it so happened that when I visited this park last time, I happened to encounter this brat.
This man almost lives in this park for more than a decade - with unkempt hair & horrible smell around him & his unwashed - for years - clothes . He is not a beggar in real sense just a sort of lunatic who hangs around the park & is a common sight to all the visitors.
No one ever complains about him since he never disturbs any one & quite calm. For that matter he belongs to the Park more than most us who use the park !!
Like few other regular visitors, I used to give him small change once a while. When I visited him last time, I fumbled for small change but unfortunately I did not have it.
As he was standing in front of me waiting for my response, I had gestured him that I will give him when I visit next time ...
So......my prelude makes sense now,....huh ???
There is no "small" or "big" things when we are at cloud nine....er er....AGANDAM !!
