Bank......??!!!! Power......???

Dear All

This post got written up on my head few days back triggered with a small incident.

No..It is not about the plight / powerlessness of Banks today and I am not trying to get hooked to the unstable power supply that we experienced due to the Vardah Storm. You got beaten up by these things sufficiently & more over its past now - whats the point in languishing.....?

Well, I was oblivious about the "earning power" of our credit cards until recently - I mean the reward points that they give to the already big buyers which helps them to stuff some more trivial articles at their homes. When some acquaintance casually told us that he keeps a track of the reward points and bought THIS, THAT and ANOTHER ONE too, I felt bit out of the place and decided to have a tryst with my destiny too - oops i mean, the accumulated reward points for my credit card account.

When we become wise, Nature helps us to become even more - Isn't it ?
I learnt that the old points all get evaporated in thin air and with the last six month paltry credit card usage, we managed to get a Electric Water Jug six months back. This is some thing we are using from the day one almost daily. The incident to narrate came much later -recently

After mustering few more points, we eyed on a "Power Bank" which is some thing that we don't have at home. I have heard about it and understand what it is but never had a luck of touching and seeing it until now. So, was quite happy that we haven't chosen some thing trivial... and was waiting with some excitement for its delivery.

Got the series of messages that typically these distribution organisation give us at every stage...and was gearing up to receive it our home. Vardah came slightly ahead of our new "Power Bank" and when the dutiful courier reached us on a sunlit day just after Vardah's Veriyaattam....
We had no electricity to even power it for a full 2 days.....though the "Power Bank" gave some assurance about future.

So, the moment I opened the door when the courier man knocked (yep - no power ...you see), that was the time to get reminded about Saint Dattatreya.

Folks, I am not trying to promote my earlier post ; neither I am imagining that no one around me is so ignorant and rigid without learning any thing.
The whole point of this post is to share the bliss of this type of co-incidences, paradoxes and similarities in seemingly different aspects of life.

Whats next....?? You never know until you know...

To Kamarajpuram Sixers With Love..........

**************** TO - Kamarajapuram Sixers , the whatsapp group of the next gen of our family - gifted with lot of love, care & concern ***************

Tomorrow is a Tuesday and also 13th !! (Both in-auspicious, huh ??)
But then it is also a Full Moon day:-)

It becomes even more auspicious when we remember that this day (Pournami @ Karthikai Month) marks the birthday ("Jeyanthi") of a great man -   Saint Dattathreya

Born to Saint Athri Maharishi and his wife Anusuai, he was a wonder man with aspects of the Thri moorthis - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He was very much human - trust me - the photo above is more suggestive to describe his credentials (the Cow symbolizes Mother Earth; the dogs represent 4  Vedhas & you can see the weapons / identifications of Thri moorthis in his 6 hands)

The most interesting aspect about him was that he had an uncanny ability to observe and imbibe things from the simple most things around him. He never needed a GURU to become what ever that he was !
In a land & at a time where GURU and Guru-kula-vaasam  were ways of life, he is truly an unique saint -  but he was not a loner.. (I am sure you must be familiar with another saint of recent past -   Shirdi Baba.....  right ? He is being considered as an incarnation of Saint Dattatreya)
Saint Dattatreya stands out as a shining example that one can learn what ever he wants to - by being open to simple things around...regardless of place of birth, time and other details ("desa - kala - parichinnam" as it is referred to).
His treatise "Avadhootha Geethai" is regarded as one of the best bet of Advaita philosphy.

With the mind boggling information exchanges these days (in various forms - words, images, audio and video clips), I feel He is too much relevant today.
I am not posting this one with a personal animosity towards e-age rather looking it as an opportunity  - I mean, by first understanding what we really need before getting bogged down.
Perhaps we may call some thing as "Semma" and ridicule some things else as "Mokkai" may be out of our own ignorance !! Possibly, the Reverse could be true when we ponder deep within us.

Wish and pray Saint  Dattatreya blesses us on better management of life ... er .. er time.

Amma ! ....... Ammu ?

Dear All

Trust me - This is not going to be another obituary  😿 for our Late C M.

Ever since she rose to power during 1991, I have been closely watching TN politics without any political bias. {please note - I was in first year of my college education during 91 aged -18 years}

Leaving out the issue based opinions about the two major parties, the two personalities of TN enticed me more. In comparison to JJ, I had always admired her bete- noire MK.

Yes, this man (another Gemini like me) has enlivened me on numerous instances  with his sharp tongue and quick wits. I remember that there are at least 3 / 4 posts in this very blog where I have written / referred him. Isn't he the last piece of the Old School of TN Politics alive today ?

While people praise laurels for "Amma's" Boldness, Confidence and Leadership qualities, I had always - within my own mind - substituted those traits with few negative words  like "Adamance", "Apathy", and "Ego".

Not much shocked / surprised at her demise, I was not some one to get glued to the TV set to watch her final rites. I was going about with my usual routine with clinical precision.
(or "army discipline" ?)

But then, couple of days later - I read a nice article in the current Ananda Vikatan - which talked about three phases  of JJ's life/

Yes her first 23 years (1948-71) was spent in close proximity with her "mummy", and the last 25 years (1991-2016) with "Sasy" - the in between period of course with "vaadhiyaar MGR"

There was an interesting piece of news that when she had to go for an award function (she was given FilmFare award once for being best actress & few more recognition too), It appears she just spread up a dozen sarees on her cot and was staring them indecisively. Seems her mother Sandhya reached her to speed up - pointed out a particular one randomly without thinking for a second.... and ....you know what happened....?
The future CM of the state obeyed her mother without any second thoughts.How...zzz ...that !!??

Guess this particular trait showed up its ugly face once again while she dealt her friend during the last phase. hmmm.....

I sense a huge mass of compassion within myself as I completed reading this article with few more interesting pieces of information.

The towering personality of "Amma" seems to subdue & vanish in thin air....  when compared  to the poor "Ammu" craving within her.
Her demise has become so mystifying and sensational today (though it was quite natural thing with the type of health issues she had) not without reasons. Won't you agree ?

Paavam Ammu..... Pattaalu............!!
