**** Policing the Police Force*****

Dear All

Some news item in yesterday's news paper caught my attention....rather gladdened my heart.

While the default adjective of any news item has become "sensational" these days, when I saw the headlines of this one, I felt it was important to read thru'.

An impressive one covering 40% of the page that I was holding !!

It was about the initiative of bringing the Police Stations of our state into ISO certification program. The article states that  7 police stations of Ambattur are already certified after a monitoring period of 90 days. They have taken a target to roll it to the other stations too to bring in more accountability , transparency & above all - public trust.

My mind went back to a memorable visit that I paid to a  police station at an European City (Sweden, Goth' berg) where I had to register a complaint on the loss of my Passport.

YES....I did miss it out of carelessness  -  that too in an alien land !  After realizing that I need to have a police complaint to get a new passport issued for me - I set my journey to a local police station close to my residence.

Though it happened 12 years back, I still carry a fresh memory about  the warmth shown to me at the Police station.

At the outset, the office building was quite huge and was nicely furnished like any other corporate office. I was made to sit in reception and an Officer - quite an old man and nicely dressed - ushered me into a room and understood my predicament. With broken English he asked the routine questions, created the complaint document, took print of it right in front of me & handed over to me with a smile.

As if it was not enough, to melt me further, he came with me and bade a good bye at the main door !!

Well, did Sweden or any other developed country has a certification program that we are trying now..??

We need to accept that they are more matured societies and their attitude and behavior gets shaped based on their intrinsic value system.

With the type of challenges that we have at India, if this ISO certification is going to make a difference (at least a mild one) , why make fun about it ?

As an eternal optimist, I pray that the police force gets motivated with this initiative and gets into an introspection mode.

Quite obviously,  some one at senior level within Department or perhaps in Government Machinery would have had his serious thoughts over it before putting it into action. 

It always needs some intensity only to start off any thing worthwhile...once things pick up momentum, things get slightly easier - like switching the automobile from first to second gear..

Part 3 : ****** " க + கா = கக்கா ?? " **********

முன் குறிப்பு :

சர்க்கரையை "கக்கா" என்று குழந்தைகளிடம் செல்லமாக குறிப்பிடும் வழக்கம் உங்களுக்கு உண்டா ?
சிறுநீரை சில  வீடுகளில் "கக்கா" என்ற அதையே வார்த்தை கொண்டு குழந்தைகளிடம் குறிப்பிடும் வழக்கம் உண்டு.
இடம் பொருள் ஏவலால் அர்த்தம் மாறுபடக்கூடியது தான் - பொருளற்ற இந்த  வார்த்தை .கூட....சரிதானே ...??

ஒரே வார்த்தை அல்லது  விஷயம் (பல சமயம்) சிலருக்கு இனிப்பாக உவப்பாக இருக்க அதுவே வேறு ஒருவருக்கு  முகம் சுளிக்கும் விஷயமாக இருப்பது பெரிய ஆச்சர்யமே  இல்லை.

இந்த பதிவு ஒரு மனித மனத்தினுள் உறைந்து கிடைக்கும் முரண்பாட்டை பற்றியது....

அன்புடையீர்.....

சமீபத்தில் எங்கள்  உறவினன்  ஒருவன்  (சரியாக சொல்வதானால் " எனக்கு அவ்வளவாக பழக்கமில்லாத - எங்கள் குடும்பத்தின் ஒரு புது மாப்பிள்ளை" ) மூச்சு விடாமல் கடந்த 4 / 5 மாத அவகாசத்தில் வந்த திரைப்படங்கள் அனைத்தையும் பற்றி வெகு தீர்க்கமாக ("பட பட"வென்று ?) தன் கருத்தை  முன் வைத்த அதிசயத்தை காண நேர்ந்தது.

ஆம்.. அவர் ( வயதில் இளையவர் என்றாலும் மாப்பிள்ளை அல்லவா ?...தவிர அவர் "ஞானத்திற்கும்" மரியாதை கொடுத்து தான் ஆக வேண்டும் !!) - வெளிவந்த அத்தனை படத்தையும் தவம் போல பார்த்திருக்கிறார் (அதுவும் அனைத்துமே திரை அரங்கத்திற்கு சென்று தான்..... . ). இன்னமும் தெளிவாக சொல்ல வேண்டுமென்றால் கிட்டத்தட்ட 7 - 8 வருடங்களாக எந்த தமிழ் திரைப்படத்தையுமே விட்டு வைத்ததாக தெரியவில்லை....!!

சராசரியாக 3 - 4 மாதங்களுக்கு ஒரு முறை திரையரங்கம் செல்லும்  எனக்கு இந்த யுவன் ஒரு சாதனைச் செல்வனாக .தென்பட்டான் .

<<இந்த புது வருடத்தில் தான் 3 வாரங்களுக்கு ஒரு முறையாவது  ஒரு ஆங்கில அல்லது ஹிந்தி படம்  பார்ப்பது என்று சபதம் எடுத்திருக்கிறேன்.>>

சபதம் எடுக்க வேறு விஷயமா இல்லை ? என்று நகைப்பவர்களுக்கு ஒரு சில .வார்த்தைகள்.
எனக்கு நல்ல திரைப்படங்களை பார்ப்பது ஒரு யோக  அனுபவம். இதை பொழுது போக்காக பார்ப்பவர்களிடம் எனக்கு பேச எதுவும் விஷயம் இல்லை. கொஞ்சம் ஊன்றி  கவனித்தால், நம் அனுபவத்தில் இல்லாத வாழ்க்கைகள், சூழ்நிலைகள் மற்றும் மனித மனத்தின் விந்தைகள் எல்லாம் அனுபவித்து விட்டு - 3 மணி நேரம் கழித்து நிர்மலமாய் வீட்டுக்கு வருவதற்கும் (குறிப்பு - திரையரங்குகளில் பார்க்கும் படங்கள்....அவை தரும் பிரமிப்பையே வேறு...) .... இந்த உடலை உகுத்து விட்டு கிளம்பும் அந்த தவிர்க்க முடியாத நாளுக்கும் பெரிய வித்தியாசம் இல்லை என்று தான் எனக்கு படுகிறது...
எனவே - சினிமா என்னை பொறுத்த வரை ஒரு " வாழும் கலை".....!!

இன்னமும் தெளிவாக சொல்ல வேண்டுமானால் -  நான் கண்டு களிக்கும் திரைப்படங்களைக்  காட்டிலும் என் ரசனையும் (சில சமயங்களில் -முரண்பாடுகளும்)  மிகவும் சுவாரஸ்யமாக இருக்கிறது.

சில உதாரணங்கள் சொல்லுகிறேன் ...கேளுங்கள்...

இரு மாதங்களுக்கு முன் ஒரு பதிவு எழுதி இருந்தேன். (part 1). நான் எழுத விழைந்தது மணி ரத்னத்தின் "குரு " படம் பற்றி. இரசிக்கும் சில அம்சங்களில் நான் இன்பமடைந்தது நிஜந்தான்.
விதிவசமாக மகேந்திரன் இயக்கிய "முள்ளும் மலரும்" படம் ஓரிரு நாட்களுக்குள் பார்க்க  நேர்ந்தது. எரிமலை போல உணர்ச்சிப்பிழம்பாகி விட்டேன்  என்றால் மிகையில்லை. என் பதிவு மொத்தமும் MM பற்றியே இருந்தது வியப்பில்லை.
 மனசெல்லாம் விசகித்து...பிரமிப்புடன்மணிரத்னத்தின் படங்களை சாடி விட்டேன் கொஞ்சம் அதிகமாகவே.... (by sheer  comparison ).

அதே  மணிரத்னம் இயக்கு வெளியிட்ட "காற்று வெளியிடை" எனக்கு தெரிந்த பலர்  மிகக் கிண்டலாக கருத்து சொல்ல (அந்த புது   மாப்பிளை கூட), நான் எதற்கு அவ்வளவு விம்மலோடு அந்த படத்தை பார்த்தேன்...என்று எனக்கு புரியவில்லை. எனக்கு பழகிப்போன அதையே மணிரத்ன வசனங்கள் கூட அந்த பேரழகு கதாநாயகியின் மிழற்றல் குரலில் சில புத்திசாலித்தனமான வசனங்களை கண்டு புளகாங்கிதப்பட்டு போனேன். அருமையான படப்பதிவு, இசை இரண்டும் என்னை மயக்க அந்த திரைப்படம் - என் - -முந்தைய  - மணிரத்ன "அபிப்பிராயம் " தப்போ என்று கொஞ்சம் யோசிக்க வைக்கிறது.

அதற்கு மாறாக பலரும் புகழ்ந்து தள்ளிய "கவண்" எனக்கு எட்டிக்காயாய்  கசந்தது. கிட்டத்தட்ட மொத்த படமும் முள்மேல் அமர்ந்து இருந்தேன்... இத்தனைக்கும் எனக்கு இந்த இயக்குனர் (KV Anand) இயக்கிய முந்தைய அத்தனை படங்களும்  நான் இரசித்த படங்கள். நான்  பத்தியில் சொல்லியிருந்த அந்த புது மாப்பிள்ளை நற்சான்றிதழ் தந்த படம் இது....!!


இப்போது முன் குறிப்புக்கு .வருவோம்....
மனிதர் இருவருக்குள் ஏற்படும் முரண்பாடுகள் ...
மனஸ்தாபங்களை விட ஒரு தனி மனிதனுக்குள் தான் எத்தனை எத்தனை சிக்கல்கள்...!! நமது மனநிலை, அறிவு  நிலை, முதிர்ச்சியின் கட்டத்திற்கு ஏற்றாற்போல நமது அபிப்ராயங்கள்  மாறுகின்றன.சில சமயம், என்  எடுத்துக்காட்டுகள் போல - நமக்கே  புரிவது இல்லை....

தலைப்பு பற்றி ரொம்ப மண்டையை உடைத்து கொள்ள .வேண்டாம்...

"கவண்" எனக்களித்த வெறுப்பும் "காற்று வெளியிடை"எனக்கு தந்த பிரமிப்பும்   மற்ற பிறருக்கு  முற்றிலும் மாறான அனுபவமாக இருந்து இருக்கிறது என்று எனக்கு தெரிந்த முறையில் குறிப்பிட
வேண்டினேன்.

ரசிக்கவில்லை என்றால் .பரவாயில்லை. விட்டு விடுங்கள்...பரந்து விரிந்து இருக்கும் அகண்டத்தின் ஒரு மூலையில் நான் இருந்துவிட்டு . போகிறேன் - என் வழி தனி வழியாக..... :-)
