The Master Blaster - addendum

Dear All

It was a sweet co-incidence that Sachin was declared as a  Bharatha Rathna receipient on the same day when I had casually mentioned about this topic in my yesterday's post.
(It is equally tragic that Vishy lost another match yesterday to prove you all that I do not possess any high connections to pre-know about the award nominations)

As I read in the daily, it was just a casual mentioning and oral approval by our PM to the President of India to include sports people into this award nominations. Truly amazing to have the decision so timely (unlike the cases where the awards were given posthumously in the past. (Shell shocked to know that some of the dead leaders were given after decades of their deaths....Gosh !!)

Well, Sachin !! You made all of us proud. Its the country's turn to give back some thing to you.
I am sure you will be a sweet young lad in the years to come too......

The Master Blaster

Sachin Tendulkar has played his last innings yesterday showing his elegance and mastery of the game. Obviously the Cricket World felt proud about the way the Master Blaster is departing cricket.

The respectful gesture of the WI team when he entered the pitch to start his game, the adulation of the fans and press are all really wonderful way to respect this young man whose appearance is not old enough deserving a retirement.

Not a great cricket watcher, still I like him like most of you for not just cricketing reasons.

As a personality he is an icon and sort of reflection of an Indian Middle class youth. When he was interviewed 24 years back (that was when he whacked Abdul Quadir right in a pakistan pitch), I still remember his girlish voice unable to answering the queries of the press people.
From that stage, he has come a very big way in his communication and even getting many of us feeling that he should become a part of commentary box.

I am in fact one of the vociferous supporter for giving Bharata Rathna to him (and Vishy Anand ? perhaps jointly)

Well, er .... er...one last point on the subject.........I carry an illusion that I resemble him a little bit
(you know some thing ? he is born in same 1973 when I was blessed to be born too - but then he is 50 days elder to me).
Particularly in my teenage when I used to have overgrown hair on my head, I had his looks - only the head portion as I never had been muscular and could never imagine the kind of biceps he has all along....

Look at the below photo which was taken 26 years back - apart from the way both me and my cousin are walking like opening pair of a cricket match , don't you feel my claim is justified ??

Well, before I end this post, I just read that Sachin has lamented in one of the recent interviews that he is not sure what to do after his retirement.

On the contrary, in my case - since my real career is getting started in couple of days from now, I don't have such problems.

Hope I play my game of work at my new office as shrewdly as Tendulkar played his innings - every time and retire gracefully like him.
