Though I am a master delegator at home, there is one responsibility that hangs around my neck always which my better off openly admits that she isn't better than me ! Though she takes care of the over all responsibility of monitoring madhoo's school preparedness (I had always believed it is the school which prepares the kids for life... hmmm...), when it comes to getting her ready with writing compositions, she delegates - rather decentralizes the tasks to me.
When ever little madhoo approaches me to write essays on various topics, I have tried my level best to pick up the sentences from her own knowledge and understanding and just do the value addition of extending based on her inputs. However such far sighted processes are not too practical when I do not have the patience or energy to nudge her creativity !!
Recently she came with a request to write small essays on three topics which were too generic and simplistic - one was on "importance on education", another on "coconut tree" and the last one on "television". This was an instance when I had to do it on my own (without involving her much) as the "dead line" was drawing close.
While I managed to make up the first one bit too general, the next two topics made me blink literally. Really wanting to get some solid data to make up an essay, I consulted the never-failing friend - wikipedia which gave me abundant information on the second one (coconut) and made me feel at ease.
However, the last one (TV) was bit too daunting. The site threw too much of technical information that were neither easy to translate nor relevant for a school kid AND I had to resort to hybrid technology (combination of data available with some practical wisdom)
After typing out the essay today & handing over to Madhoo, I feel bit too relieved that I have completed it finally.....
However, I will be missing her typical warnings almost daily for the past 10 days - with her hands locked in both sides of her hips and with a stern look....Hmm....!!

இன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் நமது வாழ்வில் ஒரு அங்கமாகவே ஆகிவிட்ட விஞ்ஞான சாதனங்களுள் தொலைக்காட்சி முதன்மையானது. அதன் வரலாறு குறித்தும் சில சுவாரஸ்யமான தகவல்கள் பற்றியும் இந்த கட்டுரையில் காண்போம்.
பொருளுரை
உலக அளவில் 1920 -ம் ஆண்டு தொலைக்காட்சி பெட்டிகள் விற்பனைக்கு வந்து விட்டாலும், இந்தியாவில் 1959 -ஆம் ஆண்டே சோதனை முயற்சிகள் தொடங்கப்பட்டன. வானொலி நிறுவனத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியாகவே தொலைக்காட்சி நிகழ்ச்சிகள் முதலில் ஒலிபரப்பப் பட்டன என்பது தற்போதைய தலைமுறைக்கு ஒரு அதிசயமான செய்தியாக இருக்கும்.
1991 ஆம் ஆண்டு நமது நாட்டில் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட பல்வேறு பொருளாதார சீர்திருத்த நடவடிக்கைகளில் முக்கியமான ஒன்று தொலைக்காட்சி சம்மந்தப்பட்டது. தனியார் துறை தொலைக்காட்சி சேவையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டதன் விளைவாக தொலைக்காட்சிப் பெட்டிகளின் எண்ணிக்கை அசுர வளர்ச்சி பெற்றது. குறிப்பிட்டு சொல்வதென்றால் 1962 ஆம் ஆண்டு 41 தொலைக்காட்சிப் பெட்டிகள் கொண்ட நமது நாட்டில் தற்போது 13 1/2 கோடி வீடுகளில் அங்கமாகி விட்டது.
தூர்தர்ஷன் என்ற பெயர் கொண்ட அரசின் தொலைக்காட்சி நிறுவனத்தில் தொடங்கிய சேவை, தற்சமயம் ஏறக்குறைய 500 தனியார் தொலைக்காட்சி நிறுவனங்கள் போட்டி போடும் ஒரு வியாபாரமாகவே மாறி விட்டது.
மொழிவாரியாக பிரிக்கப்பட்ட நமது மாநிலங்களுக்குள் ஒரு இணைப்பு பாலமாக தொலைக்காட்சி செயல்படுகிறது என்றால் அது மிகையில்லை. கடும் போட்டியின் காரணமாக, பல்வேறு தனியார் தொலைக்காட்சிகளும் சர்வ தேச தரத்தில் நிகழ்ச்சிகள் வடிவமைக்க முயற்சிகள் செய்கின்றன.
மிகவும் அதிகமான ஜனத்தொகை கொண்ட நமது நாட்டில் விளம்பரத் துறையின் பெரும் தாக்கம் தொலைக்காட்சி மூலம் உருவாக்கப்படுகிறது. இதற்கு உதாரணமாக IPL கிரிக்கெட் போட்டிகளை குறிப்பிட்டுச் சொல்ல இயலும்.

1970 ஆம் ஆண்டில் கிரிக்கெட் விளையாட்டின் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பின் மூலம் பிரபலமான தொலைக்காட்சி, சுமார் நாற்பது வருடங்களுக்கு பிறகு தன் அசுர வளர்ச்சியால் கிரிக்கெட் விளையாட்டை ஒரு பெரும் வியாபாரமாக உருவாக்கி விட்டது என்றால் அது ஒரு வியப்பான செய்தி அன்றோ ?
